Packaging Design
When Novartis Generics launched and re-branded itself as Sandoz, the company took the opportunity to revamp its packaging. With this, Sandoz came up with a unique design concept that has many advantages for its customers.
The packaging concept is a colour-coded system making use of the registered Novartis trademarks – the triangle and the ‘S’ of Sandoz. By allocating a specific colour for the triangle to represent the active pharmaceutical ingredient and a specific colour for the ‘S’ to represent the strength of dosage, an individual colour combination for each product is created. These colour combinations are selected and allocated centrally, thus ensuring uniformity and consistency of the Sandoz global portfolio, wherever it is marketed.
This colour-coded system is then backed up by detailed product information, displayed in an easily accessible and easily readable layout, resulting in a strong brand image.
The advantages of this packaging concept include the fact that wholesalers, pharmacists, medical staff and patients can recognise and distinguish between products at a glance. Pharmacists in particular appreciate that information is visible on three sides of the package, allowing quick reading and access no matter how the package is stored.
As a patient there are also many benefits, with clear readability and easy differentiation between Sandoz products, making the Sandoz packaging design a highly innovative and user-friendly concept.
